Lost in scent mechanics.

So, my paradox is here: If I and one of my friends learn both theft and ranging, can we pick up each other's scents if we drop any? And would this result in dropping another scent of thievery if done on someone else's claim?
Throughout the centuries there were men who took first steps, down new roads, armed with nothing but their own vision.

Where is the paradox?
If you set them as friends with the claim mechanics (grant permissions) they won't need to activate crime, therefore no scents.

You have misunderstood me. If I am a thief and my friend is a ranger and we both go to steal some stuff from someone, will my friend be able to pick up the scents I leave or does he have to own the place? Btw, if he doesn't have to own it, would he leave a scent after picking one up, assuming he also had theft?

just to clarify, he will probably leave tresspassing scents. also, picking up scents doesn't remove them, they can still be picked up by someone else.

Oh, and he can't pick up ALL the scents. That means you cannot clean up after each other in order to escape detection.
