How to find a mine

Postby frontrox1 » Sat Mar 27, 2010 12:13 pm

Hello!

I know this question gets asked a lot but they never seem to get answered.

So i get to the point where i need ores but i cannot obtain them!
I read over and over again that it is almost impossible to find a mine.

Any tips on how to find a mine?

I'm not sure this is true but I believe you need to build a Mine Hole and it requires the Prospecting skill

Read the "prospecting" article on the wiki. Or find someone to trade with because rumor has it that most all mines are taken (there's only so many of them out there)

You would have to kin and party him with his hearthsecret and walk, so it would be wise to look out for trading partners in your region.

When you are in a party you will see an arrow which you can follow. Those arrows are bugged from time to time though. To still find the guy you are looking for just rightclick on his portrait in party and choose "follow".

Also it helps to know what the other party wish for. From what I have seen the popular ones at this timeframe is:

Fiber/Linen. Any quality. (Banner)
Chantrelles. Need a lot of them. (For dexterity)
Cave bulb. Any quality (For making Pure Psyche food)
Good quality milk.
Good quality Silk and silk products.
High quality Water/Clay/Soil. (For High Quality Trees)
Possibly High quality food product that aren't basic crops depending on other person. (ex. High Quality Big Bear Banger)
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

Anyone can find high q soil, water or clay if they are lucky enough. The chantrelles and linen don't have to be high q.

People building brick walls will take any q bricks (or clay) as the brick quality doesn't matter in a wall.

There are still undiscovered mines to be found as the new areas on the map are generated. If you walk until you hit an invisible wall you are at the edge of the map and it may be going to expand there. I believe it has expanded north, but not yet west so if you walk as far west as you can, camp and grind perception so that you can find rustroot and then prospect, you may be able to scout for a mine before anyone else gets there.
