... deal with boar.

Postby Xanthic » Wed Mar 31, 2010 5:10 am

Alright, so I'm a noob in the game clearly. I've enjoyed the game so far, minus a few points. Namely getting mauled twice by bears I couldn't outrun, killed by fox's attempting to hunt, and now I get ritualistically slaughtered by the boar in the surrounding area.
I want to know, how am I supposed to regain the lost HP that don't regenerate? I can't seem to find a swamp near-by to get 'leeches' that I've read will fix it. I don't have the skill, nor the HP to even attempt trying to tame a sheep to get the material either so bandages are out of the question.
Is there an alternative meathod? Or is my best hope a 6 hour tour looking for a swamp on my boat to save my rear? As it stands, one or two more times down by a boar and I won't be getting up again. A terribly cruel end to a game that was beginning to get my interest.
Final question I suppose, I've caught mention of ressurection of 'dead' characters. What, if any, penalties apply for that?

Edit:
A side note, I've realized there are a couple different kinds of swamp. Anyone have a screenshot of the correct type for leeches?

When you die you get -25% to your stats and skills if you have full Tradition, and -75% if you have full Change, and -50% if your neutral.

Swamps that are white on the minimap contain no leeches.

Green swamps contain no leeches as well.

Bluish-green swamps with debris like old logs, leaves, and swamp plants contain leeches.
I like apple juice.

I've seen the swamps that look like some kind of oil-slick on the mini-map, and the one that's a blue-green, but not seen the white. Is the one that looks like an oil slick the 'white' one? Neither of the two had logs downed in them either.

Edit:
I think I've seen the white ones now. But they were the only one having decoration. Anyhow, my main character got knocked by a boar again, and has been reduced to 13 hp max. If someone could possibly direct me a little more specifically, (I feel wretched for still asking for help), with a screen shot of the correct type of swamp or something I would appriciate it. Currently I'm boating around with an alt desperately trying to find some leeches to restore my main once more.
No fun benching my main character.

You can still try to make bandages. If you have high enough exploration and perception, you can find four leaf clovers on grasslands. You can feed a clover to a sheep and it will let you shear it one time for every clover you give.

I just let 5 Q17 leeches heal on me, 2 HHP and they were all full again. They do near nothing.

To a mouflon, I do not believe it works on domesticated sheeps.

Does anyone know if the blue green swamps with the leeches in them are visable from any rivers? If you are boating along what are the chances of finding a leech infested swamp? Would you have to travel on foot to find one? Any feedback would be most welcome. I am also a victim of the Uber boars... :(

Leech marshes are often visible from boats. Rivers cut right through them.
