What do I do? Seriously.

Postby DukeBenjy » Sat Apr 03, 2010 8:17 am

I've just joined. I'm a noob, yes.
I'm not stupid, I just haven't seen how to do things the right way. How do I go about starting off completely? I understand that my newly given bread is of a short supply, and it is dwindling rapidly, and that I must find some more food immediately to replenish and sustain my supplies, but really, how do I go about doing that? I've been wandering around, seeing no signs of other players. I've been situated in what looks like an ideal place; a river, sort of a defensive landscape, and plenty of wildlife. I'd just like an incredibly simple guide to getting the first few bits of exp points for my skills and then I can kickstart my flame into a conflagration.
Any help? Any would be appreciated.

Just as I get started on giving up, I've found out how to do things. My bad you guys, in case you've read it.

Glad you figured things out.

Just a couple of notes:

If you are relying on foraging for some/all of your food supply it is a good idea to push exploration a bit. That way you will find more stuff.

If you set your beliefs towards peaceful you will gain lp faster. The higher your change and your peaceful the faster you gain lp. You can always change them back later.

If you want to improve the quality of the stuff you find and of the basic tools you make, increase your survival. You won't be able to find/make q10 stuff until your survival is at 10. Higher quality gives more lp.

Boars and bears both attack. Don't let them see you. Hide behind a tree or a boulder or something. Better yet, wade really deep into the water and you can sneak away quite safely.

DO NOT GET SWIMMING UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

You will probably want to get four dried rabbit skins and learn leatherworking early on so that you can make a backpack which will increase the size of your inventory.

Try to keep your attributes from getting too unbalanced. That means not living on perch for a week and a half until you realise your intelligence is at 47 and all your other attributes are still at 10. If you do you will have to get 47 fep to raise each of the other stats to 11, and another 47 each to raise them to 12 and so on until they are caught up.
