So im new right....

Postby stryfe1986 » Sat Apr 03, 2010 11:44 pm

So I am new to this, I started not even 10 mins ago or so. So far from what i gathered on reading other topics is, make a b-line to yeomanry, from what i saw i think i need foraging>plant lore>farming>yeomanry....I hope im right in this.

So far i have made alot of fires and baskets and stone axe, should i just keep doing that until i get yeomanry or what would you guys suggest i can do to keep me wanting to continue this game lol. I dont need convincing more like suggestion on what to do, right now because i have no clue what i am doing i am determined to figure this game out lol. I like these kinds of games though it reminds me alot of UO.

Lastly, I am rather intrigued why i should not even consider getting swimming?

You probably want to get some other skills so that you can do more than just build baskets. You will need to eat, after all, and that requires finding food. You can try foraging, fishing or hunting or some combination of the three. Combinations are good because the more different types of food you get the faster you gain attributes like strength and dexterity.

If you get lumberjacking and carpentry you can earn lp doing stuff like ploughing, building a house and building furniture for your house. You might want to build a roundpole fence to discourage the boars from charging you and creating spattered biohazards from your lifes blood but roundpole fences do not slow down the bears.

Why not get swimming? Because someone with 40 consititution can drown in one tile and usually will. Someone with 80 consitition can take three: two out, one back and.... oh dear, you didn't make it. Serious dedicated H & H'ers have tested this. There is no safe level at which you can swim.

You see that thing that says area chat? Click the white box, type your message, press enter, and VOILA, anybody in the nearby vicinity will hear you.

i started two days ago and ive lost a few characters.. but heres my suggestion

dont get fishing until you want to, by this i mean when you have all equipment and so forth

DO NOT SWIM... you'll die garunteed

mining and metal working are useless until you get into a community or have your own personal mine

skill values arent useful until you've established a likeing to a certain skill

now for getting LP..

the best thing to do for major LP at first is go to your personal beliefs page and move your slider to peaceful, for a bonus LP, yourtradition/change will automatically go to change, which means more LP too

just keep making fires. if you want buy lumberjacking and carpentry, they'll benefit you later on, and make clogs out of trees. you need two wood blocks for 1 pair of clogs. if you cut down a tree you get major LP and big logs which can be turned into 12 wood blocks. if you hack out the tree stump you also get major LP and a few wood blocks.

well thats my advice :P

I'd push exploration and survival no matter what path you are going to take. Being able to find more spindley taproots (string and food in one!!) and other resources is invaluable which you get from higher exploration. If you increase survival the quality of the basic stuff you make goes up. This means better food and more lp from the work you do.
