Making my first Cabin *sigh*

So i have gotten the hang of this game and i love it so far, Now comes time when i am able to give myself 4 walls a roof.

How do i make a timber house? It keeps saying that i cant build it there, why would that be? I can make a cabin but for some strange reason i cant do a timber house? any suggestions?

You need a paved ground of 7x7 size, alternatively you can build it on dirt. But it'll decay faster.

how can i pave it? i just learned that i can lay stone but im not sure how, the shovel comes out but i cant figure out how to do it

also can i move where my door can be located? (as in n,w,e,s side of the structure)

lol well i found what looks like an abondoned settlement no house just stone on floor and fences and all that good stuff, i just need my house and i cant start farming.

im new as well but this i can help with

to pave you need to plow first. once the area is plowed then you can Lay the stone down. then get your 7x7 area and then build

Make sure your inventory has some chipped stone to pave it with.
