How do you find people?

And if i got a friend of mine to play how do we try and locate each other. can we settle near each other. and how big is the game map?

Before he leaves the character creation room tell him your hearth secret. (Make one up through the kin heart button screen). Have him tell it to Mr. Holmes in the upper left corner and he will spawn at your hearth.

The game map is uber-ginormous. Depending on your speed about ten hours travel from one side of the map to the other.

To find your neighbours you have to wander around and look for them. There may not be very many. They may not speak your language. And very likely they will not be logged in when you find their homes, so if you want, leave a runestone requesting they contact your through the forum.

we were near the southern edge of the map. someone found a mine in the southern area after the map was expanded and it was a 2.5 hour walk/boat ride
