what melee skill do i need to kill a level 4 bear?
I tried to do it with 75 melee and a shield but i missed everything.

I killed one with one KO at melee 50, and without getting KO'd at melee 60. As far as I can tell, melee skill is what determines accuracy, so I don't know why you can't hit bears at a higher skill than me. What weapon do you use?

I used a steel sword so i could use a shield.

Same here; there must be something else affecting accuracy. Could it be Strength or Agility? Bears are no joke, but you should at least be landing blows.

Bears are tough even at lvl 4. With melee 75, however, it should be quite doable.

Are you keeping combat balance in your favour? That helps quite a bit...

That's a good point, I used Sidestep a lot in the vain hope that it would stop the bear from using that 1-shot kill attack. Didn't work.

Well over 100 HP. I wasn't keeping track but I'd estimate at least 300 or even 400 at level 4.
