Mapping an area, redraw or update?

I have a question about mapping an area. It's simple:
When you have drawn your own little village, does your map update when you expand your village?
When it doesn't, do you have to redraw the area that has been updated??

I believe so, yes. That is, I believe you have to redraw the map.

Yeah, Cartography basically gives you a snapshot of the area you draw. It won't update on its own. Ink's relatively easy to come by when you get enough Per/Explo, though, and updating a village's area is probably a lot less pain than hiking over a supergrid.
