Taming animals

I'm having a hard time trying to tame animals. Can someone tell me how to tame an animal. Just today i almost got killed by a herd of cows. I escaped and ran to my house as fast as i could. So any way can someone tell me how to tame an animal?
They assume safety in the village that they dwell in. There is a predator of the clan who assumes his dominince over all the hearthlings. They try to run away to find safety, but he is to fast. And that is the great cycle of the village clan.

ive tried taming cows and sheep. i reccomend not to 
if you dont have good armor, good weapons and combat skillz... your probably not gonna tame a beast
