As far as i know, planting broadleaf trees can transform ground to it`s native (broadleaf forest) terrain.

The question is: should i transform pine forest terrain to grassland before that or it will transform directly pine->broadleaf as well.

Or am i totally wrong and it is not possible to terraform area to any forest terrain?

From what I understand, a tree will convert the 8 surrounding tiles over time (long?). So if you are hoping to create a deciduous forest you will need to plant the trees three tiles apart.

You should transform to grassland if you want to have any control over the change. Both forest terrain types look the same ingame but they are easy to spot on grassland. So plant the grass plant the trees after that when they grow up (loooong time) they will have some of the surrounding tiles converted. Just plant trees on those already converted tiles so the process is sped up. If you converted directly from one forest type to another you can't see if all is converted or any for that matter.
