Do "building signs" ever expire?

Just curious if building signs ever expire and if they do, how long does it take?

But you can run up to one, take whatever has been placed in it, then leave and it should then disappear, right?

Correct. Unless of course it's partly built, in which case you'll have to suck up the stamina loss and use Adventure -> Destroy.

They definitely should, though (I'm quite tired of seeing old animal-boxing signs everywhere). I'm just not sure by what mechanic they should decay.

I'm not familiar with coding, but if possible base it off of what percentage of the required items have been placed. IE, This sign has X materials out of Y required and will decay in Z time. Or even a dead set number instead of percentage would work. So a sign that has only 1 item in it will decay very fast, and one that has 20 will decay much slower.

EDIT: This could might even make it possible to stop the use of signs to box in animals for hunting, by making a sign with only 1 item in it decay very fast, say 1 minute. While a sign with at least 2 or 3 items will last 5 or more.

Why not simply have signs decay at the same rate as the object under construction? That would make stuff like fire signs and unfinished looms fade away in a reasonable time, without screwing over players working on longer-term constructions such as houses. (Except for Avu, who seems to have his own personal screw permanently placed in his butthole)

Interacting with the sign, such as adding material or partial building should reset decay.
