Battering Ram time

Postby Rhiannon » Tue Apr 06, 2010 10:41 am

I need to tear down a couple sections of regular wall segments for expansion purposes. I built a batter ram and have been hammering at just 1 segment for 30 minutes. How long does it take? Any additional factors involved in this process?

Depends on the wall but I think you need a combined strength of a few people to do it. If its your wall can't you just use the 'destroy' action? Not sure about that bit as I have never tried it myself.

Thanks, yeah I could hack away at it with a pickaxe but that was taking forever, i figured a ram added more power...guess not, don't ya just how detailed the wiki is on things...lol

problem is every 10 of your strength adds 1 damage, a battering ram adds 20 and palisade walls soak up the first 30 damage without effect, so on your own youd need 110strength before you do any damage, plus its got 2500 health....

you're exactly correct, kralmir

also the pick adds 2 damage lol so unless you had 300 str you'd never even scratch it with a pick now.

3 of us were ramming a palasade fence a while ago when we had an average str of ~55 per toon. It took us over an hour with a bucket water in our inventories, a barrel water close by and a heap of food.

maybe that helps too:

jorb wrote:Damage to items is calculated as (str/10) +1 for axe or +2 for pickaxe. Some items now have a soak value, notably brick walls have ten. That means that a character with a pick axe needs to have a strength of at least 80 in order to even dent a brick wall.

Soak Value of the Palisade is 30 now. (Brickwall = 80)
that means you need a battering ram and some strength!

1. damage of battering ram = 20 >>> remaining 10
2. now you need 100 strenght, only for breaking soak value... Boar Tusk Snuff
3. besides that the palisade has 2500 HP (Hitpoints) !!! Decay

jorb wrote:The battering ram can be operated by four people simultaneously, and needs to dry for three in-game days (one real day) before it can be used. The battering ram gives a base of 20 points of damage to which the collected (STR/10) of all characters operating the ram is added.
