Mapping merge?

My question is: how do you combine several maps to 1 (continent?)?
Do you maybe have to drag a map, and right-click with it on another one? Or how does the system works?

Oh, but one last question: you need 5x5 local maps for a regional map? how can you carry this all? Do you first need to wear a backpack and a leather cloak so you have 6x5 spaces in your inventory???

Or maybe you can merge them not all at once but part per part? Do you know more about this???
