how do you take ore and make bars?

I know you need 4 Charcoal in a Ore Smelter, and to light the Smelter. but how many copper ore do I load into the smelter? all spots? or should I add stone?

1. Dude, seriously, read up a little for yourself or ask some experienced players in your village before posting questions on absolute basics on the forums - make an effort.
2. You fill the smelter with ore, the stone is 'waste' of the process after bars are created.
3. Are you the miner of Copperfield, does your leadership know you intend to try smelt ore?
4. If you are not full industry and mess with the smelters, I will personally come over there and smack your little hands.

I did look it up, but it didn't say anything about stone waste(I don't think I saw it anyhow.

no not the miner, I am just trying to figure all aspects of the game. so should I make Charcoal? and no I do not have full industry. if I don't have full industry should I mine ore?

industry only matters at the time of mining the ore... it's fine for a non-industry character to load and light smelters
