Teleportation. Memory or magic?

Postby Nightsway » Fri Apr 09, 2010 7:25 pm

After spending 3 hours going round in circles in my little, wooden adventurer, looking for other people, I've dragged my desperate self to ask for help.

In the travel section of Adventure, I only have a button to take me to my hearth fire. However, while fiddling with an alt (in no way sexually), I realised that there's a way to start around civilisation and, more importantly, get another option in that travel menu.

Ultimately, my question is this: Do you need to physically go to a charterstone to set it as the one you'll travel to, or is there some fancy alternative, for example via invitation?

PS If, in the very likely event that I'm buggered, I have another question: Is there any other way to find civilisation or is it a matter of plowing through the countryside?
Some people are just naturally nice. I should know, I have two of them rotting under my bed.

you have to visit the charterstone and right click and do whatever it's called on the menu to be able to teleport there

They need to add a system like the baby blue eyes one for people who take the ladder. Allow them to return to the creation room and choose to go to a town or use a hearth secret via an option their hearthfire would have during the first hour of gameplay.

I think there should at least be some kind of explanation or warning when you try to use the ladder/door. I assumed that if it was the wrong choice I'd be able to go back.

It's a bit of a vague introduction to the game

It's still in alpha, so a lot of things are not too comfortable right now. There are some good guides out there though and a wiki too. Be sure to thoroughly ready up on things before you do them so you won't have anything to regret later (especially with resource intensive constructions like houses or palisades). This game (like most indie games) has a steep learning curve.
