Postby stryfe1986 » Sat Apr 10, 2010 5:54 am

so there is a small settlement with a crap loads of crops across the river but the last time this person was on was on feb, is there a date or time limit before all his base are belong to me?

PS - can this be done? as in eventually take over this abandoned location?

Reason: "can this be done?" may be a wonderfully vague title but it doesnt help readers much

If you wait for the fourth world, his stuff will be cleaned up.

I am not a fan of removing claims from people who are taking a break from the game. That said, given the game mechanics, much of the stuff will decay eventually or can be stolen (do scents decay?)

The time limit is called decay. Eventually his claim totem will decay and everything will be up for grabs (though most of his stuff will be very red by then). Since decay is applied randomly, there is no telling when this will happen.

Happened to a claim next to me just yesterday (gave me a nice supply of wheat seeds) ;)

If you're certain he's inactive, you could risk it, grab the theft skill, and go over there and swipe some seeds. If he's gone, he won't be back anywhere close to in time to catch your scents. You could also replant from what you get in order to be courteous, and he'd be less inclined to care if he is in fact still active.

They don't? Well, then this guy came online after a long time and declaimed his (very decayed) plot.
