Raising cow quality?

Postby Dickel » Sun Apr 11, 2010 2:06 am

Well we tamed and put into a pen, a bull and a cow over a week ago. We have since killed the bull and the mother has given birth to two calves.
My question is this:
How do i raise the quality of the calf? I have a trough with quality 56 in it and yet the babies seem to be only quality 9!! what the hell?!
I read somewhere that they will always eat from the trough before eating grass...well now their pen is all paved, where before it was all dirt...yet still no raising from 9 quality...
So anyway, i've tried several different things now but nothing seems to work. what am i doing wrong?

1. i hope one of your calves is a bull
2. the only way to raise the animal quality is by selective breeding.

Does food quality have any bearing on the quality of calves produced, or can I safely ignore this and feed them my low-quality seeds?

low food q (or starving) can decrease the q of produce from the animal (i.e. the milk q, or the meat and leather q if you butchered it.)

Was the empty food trough closer to them than their own; I could even see the code look for troughs in range without looking for the closest, but rather choosing the first/last one built.

Perhaps the thing to do is not to segregate them into separate pastures unless the trough ranges don't overlap.
