Felled Forests

Postby Suropej » Fri Apr 16, 2010 4:44 am

I seem to find several areas of trees that are just chopped down, leaving the logs and stumps where they fell. Is there a "natural" cause for this in the game or are players just going around doing this for LP? It seems a bit weird to just waste all those resources in the middle of nowhere without even crafting anything from the wood.

I use the felled trees to make my own things. Saves me some time but I don't get the LP from chopping them down.

Suropej,

It's one of better ways to get ALOT of LP nowdays. Try to get ql100+ bone and a good branch to make ql100+ saw. After that rise your carpentry up to 40. With such tool and carpenter skill level you will receive up to 200LP for each manufactured wooden bucket, plus experience for cutting a tree and making boards.

On that note, are there any (future) plans to have forests regrow on their own?

lol indeed. Although if there were a case to be made at all, i'd say it would be good to have a very very tiny number of trees respawning, just in case a whole region of the map gets denuded of one particular type of tree (ahem... mulberry... cough cough....)

But yeah. A sustained effort at tree planting will reforest quite a large area in no time.

(is it just me, or do trees grow a heck of a lot faster now after the map redo/upheaval/apocolypse?)

Well I can understand that, but the areas of chopped down trees that I find are just that, logs and stumps on the ground. No one is fashioning any items out of them.

I've taken to hauling them back to my little plot by cart, so I don't have to deforest anything by me. Doesn't matter so much now that I will soon be able to grow my own trees, but it's nice to leave my area "au naturale."

I'm not talking about forests regrowing over night, just slowly over time, to fill the barren stretches you encounter everywhere.

That's what I'm doing atm, whenever I have the spare time.
