Foraging

Postby Blxz » Sat Apr 17, 2010 5:28 am

How exactly does foraging work ingame? Does it randomly spawn stuff as it comes onscreen in relation to my percep*explore? Or does it randomly spawn stuff in the field and I can only see stuff that falls within my range?

Basically will running back and forth in thwe same area give me lots of stuff or do I have to move to new territory?

From what I understand, the stuff spawned is a constant. What exploration*perception does is give you a chance to see it. As its value starts to exceed the minimum needed to see an item, you have more and more of a chance to actually see it. So, as a spawned forage item comes into range, you roll to determine whether your character can see it.

So how ofetn does stuff spawn. I assume its probably got something to do with the decay thing. So its pretty random when stuff refreshes?

I have heard that it is twenty minutes, unless there is a player close by. If there is a player close by than the wild animals and the herbs they remain. I do not know if this time is accurate.

I have found that sometimes I see a rustroot, but there is a bear beside it, so I must lure the beast away before I can pick the root. And when I come back the root is gone but this is because I have not the luck to see it. So if I walk away again and come back the root may appear once more. It is like the criminal scents. Sometimes what was not visible becomes visible because your luck is better when you pass the location again.
