Do trunks (logs) decay?

Postby al » Sat Apr 17, 2010 8:44 pm

If they were moved from initial place...

Asking, because:

We need to wait several days before we can use them. Afaik trunks don't decay, but now I have a little paranoia about it...

We've hired people to cut and transport them over river for bronze :).

Nope, they don't ever decay, even if they're not moved. The area around the lake south of me was mass chopped at some point, likely weeks or months ago, and it's been that way, fallen logs everywhere, as long as I've played. They're all still there.

I keep a nice sized pile in my complex, and collect more over time. Good for spot repairs, and building things without having to go out and chop down a tree every time.

You can clean up the area a bit by shift-placing them on the same spot.

Having to go out and chop a tree first will make you more happy.

For little things it is rewarding to cut your own tree specifically for that job, for repairs and building I think having a stockpile is better, especially when trying to build palisades or keep them from decaying overnight while you sleep.

For quality things it's best to freshly chop the right three.

For building stuff you'll need plenty of logs anyway, so imho no real need to stockpile them first.

For repair of palisades the blocks from the treestumps (store in cornerpost signs along the palisade) seem to be enough.

Chop them all into blocks. Blocks wont last a day or so.
