Claim not working

I cannot seem to assign permissions to any color other than white in my claim menu.

Can anyone please explain the theft/trespassing/vandalism boxes, or even the whole claim system a little more in-depthly, please?

You click on the colored boxes and if you check any of the boxes, your kin of that color will have access to that in your claim.

Trespassing allows you to interact with objects placed on claim, but not take them.

Theft allows you to steal objects from a container, on the ground, or in a construction such as a kiln that is on a claim.

Vandalism allows you to destroy objects, place objects, and harvest crops placed in a claim.

Technically, the claim system is a way to prevent people from stealing your items forcing them to grind a ridiculously high amount of lp just to steal your stuff.

So, I click the colored box, then adjust my kin's color.

Do I check the boxes, like, do those checked boxes affect the permissions I give to the kin, or random people?

The checked boxes affect the permissions that that colored kin can do in your claim.
