Okay so is there a way to warp from one part of a village to another using crossroads.. or from one village to ANOTHER village using them? Just wondering. :P

Yes

The lawspeaker makes two crossroads in the village and puts upon one the sign from the other. Then you can travel from inside the pallisade to outside the pallisade for example.

Also, she gives the sign from one crossroad to the lawspeaker of a village that is her neighbour. And that lawspeaker puts the sign upon their crossroad and so you can then travel also to the first village from that location. If they both take and give signs you can travel in both directions.

So can you set it so that only villagers can use it?

No.

Anyone who may touch a crossroad may use it.

You can put it into a claim so that it requires tresspassing to use it. Or you may put it within a wall. You may build a wall with no gate and put into it a cross road that leads only outward. It is my understanding that many villages build an area within the village but outside of their wall and here they put the crossroad that connects to other villages. They do not give out the signs that link to the crossroads that are inside their wall.

It takes the ingenuity. But you have three means now to teleport: to the idol, to the crossroad and to the hearth. If you make for yourself the rings of walls, you can make for yourself security and the means to travel.
