Increase charcoal Q?

Postby Bonsoy » Thu Apr 22, 2010 2:16 pm

So, how do you increase board Q? And furthermore, how do you increase charcoal Q? Increasing your carpentry stats doesn't seem to help.

Carpentry is only softcapping the quality of your logs. So get better trees and a better saw to imrpove your boards. For coal the q of the kiln and the fuel are important as well.

Better saw -> better boards. And you need good q kiln. Dunno if i'm right, but i think formula is:
coalQ=(kilnQ+boardQ+fuelQ)/3

So, to get high Q boards you need to rise your carpentry and get high Q saw.
Use high Q fuel, you can use the same boards.

It's very strange though, I have a Q73 bone saw and just normal Q10 trees = Q27. Thanks for your help! Guess I will have to plant more trees to be happy. (And not waste more points on carpentry, haha).

I use 112q saw with 30 carpentry and get 32Q boards from 10q tree, not great difference. Yes, try better Q trees.

Board q = sqrt (saw q * lumber q), softcapped by carpentry of course.

it's actually (kilnQ+fuelQ+boardQ+boardQ)/4

If your kiln is higher Q than your boards, you can use two boards as fuel/raw material to make to pieces of charcoal, which you can then use as fuel when making more charcoal to push quality a little higher.
