how to build leanto on top of bed

Total newbie here.
I'm trying to build a leanto on top of my bed (like in the leanto icon!) but the build signpost simply doesn't appear when I try to place it there.

I tried that at the beginning, too, nice to know how to do it. but does it have any effect besides making sense for role-playing?

More importantly, it makes it a criminal action to take whatever is stored in the leanto while you're sleeping in it.

Nah, that would require it to save an "owner" or something, a mechanic that I want to avoid.

So that the owner changes the next time anyone uses it? Seems a bit pointless. ;)

Mind you, the boat does not define any kind of "ownership". It relieves some actions from being criminal, not the other way around.
