Regarding Plaice

Postby Pyre » Thu Apr 22, 2010 7:15 pm

Hi all,

First post, done some forum searches, and cant turn up a whole lot. I'm a relatively new player currently trying to gain some perception. The easiest way I can figure to do this is to find plaice (still trying luck with WWW for carrots o/c), and very few seeds as of yet so a chicken coop for boiled eggs is not an option.

Problem is I've tried darn near everything I can think of and still no luck, I mostly catch brill and pike with a few bream (and perch but I just toss those back). Using a 7 ql pole atm, 9 ql bone hook, 9 ql lures. So far have tried rock lobster, leeches, pinecone plug, woodfish and feather flies. I've been trying to find shallow lake spots to fish, but I've ranged far and wide and still can't find many fish spots in the shallows (I can find them kind of near but not right jumping in the shallows). But from my general fishing results I kinda think wiki is out to lunch anyhow.

So rather than looking for a direct go here do this, just wondering if anyone has some general advice to give or experience I could share vicariously.

Thanks for your time.

The trick to Plaice, is to fish for them at the right time. I understand they bite more during waning/new moon? Also at night.

I have yet to see fish jumping in shallows. Your best bet is to use a boat.

I am of the honest opion that Plaice are a myth that was put there to give us new people hope only to see it crushed when we catch that crap load of perch. But to be honest your best bet early in the game to get perception is to raid ant hills or get lucky and get some carrot seeds. If you need any help though I can make you some blueberry pies which will at least give you some perception and intellegence. Just look for me ingame under the name fangfire.

Oh I use a boat almost exclusively. But I've never seen fish specifically jumping on a shallow tile either another thing which makes me think wiki is out to lunch (in all fairness though that data was probably compiled before this world and fish was localized from what I understand). I have seen them jumping very close to the shallow tile, if you just have to be in vague proximity to the jumping fish node maybe thats how you do it.
