Strange question but, how do you propose we build 'military' characters. (Seems this is better asked here)

Nice howto, won't last that long though since Jorb is already thinking loudly about removing teleportation.

Bump. Recent raids have all been done by some dude hiding behind a tree killing clueless noobs/ idiotic people who cannot listen to advice and stealing their keys. Who needs rams when keys run around waiting to get killed.

As for the removal of teleportation all I can say is fuck all who want that.

a man need only strike another to make him evil."

There has been talk of removing teleporting since the day I started palying this game. Do not plan around 'if they remove teleporting tomorrow' plan around 'what if teleporting is still here at the end of this map'.

Some clairification for some on how to get in and out without using your gate:

You build a one way crossroad, meaning that from within your village walls you can tele to the crossroad pole outside, but you can not tele back in. So you tele back to your hearthfire to get back in.

Great thread Avu.

There really should be a second non-pvp server.

A non-pvp server would mean admins or NPCs stop people from pvping, which limits the game, which is the exact opposite of what this game is supposed to be.

If you want to just farm without doing anything else, farmville is for you. If you want to relive what farming was really like (in most aspects), then continue playing.

The one way crossroads sounds awesome, about to set that up temporarily as a form of defence.

People being able to break through even brickwalls on their own doesnt sound too realistic too me.
I understand it should be hard to be (relatively) 'safe', but it should be possible. You should be able to be attacked by a ram only on brickwalls, or something compareable.

Your right. The realistic thing would be for them to just scale over walls with ropes and ladders without breaking it. Great suggestion!

This thread reveals some sad truths that I have already become aware of in my short time here. But what it really tells me is this:
1. Teleporting needs to be removed (I rarely use it anyway), to enforce use of the Gate and Key mechanic, and removing the one way crossroads/hearth fire exploit.

2. If a community doesn't have sufficient numbers to create and maintain a standing defense force around the clock, as well as organizing defense techniques, then they need to meld with another community nearby until they do. Alternately, I see much benefit in having the ability to log off a character in a 'guardhouse', and have them serve as NPC guards that will respond to threats until they log back in. (With the usual safe-guards for perma-logged-off alts).

3. Being able to take out a building in 3 hits is wildly out of proportion with what should be possible, let alone a palisade or brick wall. Defenses need to be strengthened to make them worthwhile, or they aren't doing their job. An invasion should have to be accomplished by a team of organized invaders (If the town is sufficiently protected), not by a single individual with a 'screw you' attitude and a big axe.

That being said. I'll comment more completely once I've been here.

You really need to play and lurk more before making that kind of critique.
