Do unfinished woodpiles eventually decay?

  Unfinished woodpiles? You mean for fires? They don't seem to, at least in my experience.
  Unfinished woodpiles as in building signs? They stick around forever and litter the landscape also.

I see build-signs and unlit fires everywhere.

I moved my hearthfire from my house to a clay spot in order to farm bricks about a week ago, and today happened to notice the old hearthfire, now an unlit normal fire, was tinged red, so I believe they can decay. Building signs, unfortunately, will not, so what I usually do is leave a few full building signs around in areas I frequently hunt, and then pull all the branches out and use them individually when I am hunting. Can fit ten spaces worth of sign branches into the space of two, while still leaving them available to use later.
