How do I... cheat in quality.

Postby JayCross » Sun Apr 25, 2010 6:55 pm

So I'm about to craft some metal items and i learned that strength matters to final q of the product, so I was wondering if I can boost my strength with a bear cape and some boar tusk to get better quality for my items.

Is this possible or what really matters is my base value? or str doesn't have a say in q of metal items

Better character stats cannot actually increase the quality of crafted items, strictly speaking. Quality is only lowered by lacking stats, not the other way around.

but should your base stat place you in the position where it lowers the q of produced goods, then yes, the buff (e.g. bear cape will counter/negate the effect)

I was under the impression that the quality of an unburnt clay product was (clayQ+dex)/2 ?

Only when dex is lower than clay quality.

You can, however, raise the quality of burnt tree pots by using successively better planks for fuel (ie use you latest and best trees).

At 49 dex I had q45 clay capped to q43. So much for "only if lower".

Note that the fuel quality also counts when you burn the clay in the kiln.

(45 + 49) / 2 = 47, not 43, so it *should* have turned out q45. Math here simply doesn't add up, so either you got one of the numbers wrong (I'm betting on clay q), or we have a bug on our hands. Or 43 is the q of the burned pot, which is completely irrelevant for this discussion.
