Entering Seattle?

I've been travelling by boat trying to find anyone but I'll found are head settlments and cut trees, eventually it pops up...leaving Seattle...guess that's what my grid is called. I cant find an explanation to grids and names, any help on the matter? Also....is anyone in this grid?

Seattle is probally the name of a village as the onlt time I have seen the leaving message is when I leave the area of a village. As for leaving the grid you will get no message.
