Why does this game hate NPCs? as far as i know there are three in the game. lol the very beggingin in the primordial ooze room.

After that its all people. Now this is cool and all and beisdes the thread about Currency i dont really see a need for NPCs but this is my First MMO with out NPCs

I presume it just ruins the mood of a do-it-yourself survivalist game to have NPCs around hogging land/altering the economy/etc.

But that's a perfectly logical answer. What else were you looking for?

That's the answer you're going to get from everyone most likely. The game is largely based on the idea that you're entering a land that's uninhabited and wild, and it's your job to tame it and carve out a living for yourself. Having computer controlled players and towns around would make it feel more like you're entering a world already established.

This world is harsh and unforgiving, and the lack of NPCs reinforces that. If you meet anybody, it's because they're here scraping together whatever it takes to succeed, just like you are.

I don't understand why youwould want NPCs.

If you want a typical MMO there are plenty, this MMO is supposed to be hard, there is no handholding, or shouldn't be, and NPCs at all ruin everything (except in the beginning area obviously).

This is quite funny ;)
You have asserted that there is no need for NPCs and that this is cool. And your next question is, why there aren't NPCs?
Finally you expect an extreme complex answer?! This looks really strange to me ;)

ok stop the presses yes i think tht it is cool that there are no NPCs but that doesnt answer why there isnt any. Just because one persone thinks something is cools doesnt make it so.

Example i think it would be cool if i could lock the door on my house. Yet it is not so.

but thank you for the answer

There's lots, the level X ones always try to eat my face when I'm out scrounging for string.

Heh, more seriously though, yeah this probably takes it for the least NPCs, but that's ok it kinda seems to fit the bill. Only thing I can really compare this to is WURM which had rudimentary npcs, really just stationary vendors, pants on head retarded tower guards (more like friendly/unfriendly mobs) and noob guides/feeders.

I can't honestly say I mind the lack of them though, I mean face it in most MMOs it's not like you get oscar worthy performances out of them anyways so not much to miss.

Following you logic, the reason that pink phallic like unicorns are not in the game is that the developers hate them? Just because they are not in the game, does not mean they are hated. It might mean they are unnecessary, which seems more like the case.

Evidently, apparently some people like talking to programs rather than real people.
