Game lags horribly - what can I do about it?

On my 1 year old netbook, the game lags (Framerate lag, not server lag) horrbily with like 1-3 FPS/second, but on my dads 4-year old laptop it works like a charm.

Remember - it's a netbook.
What can I do to make it NOT lag so much.
I mean, RuneScape has way better graphics, and a world of about the same size (if you're a Members) and it doesn't lag at all.

Did you update your graphics drivers and your java VM?

world of the same size? hahaha, no. this game is gigantic, and that would make no difference whatsoever since you can only render a 800x600 square of objects at a time, post your PCs speccs

It's intergated into the processor... Meaning it shares the name of the processor, being an Intel Atom...

Have you checked the extended Client? Maybe that's working better for you, for some magical pixie dust reason.
