Houses within Village Claims vs. Crime/Scents

Hi there,
imagine the following ( not really ) hypothetical situation:

Abandoned village
Houses within villageclaim, but not within a personal claim
usefull pretty things within the houses
poor little noob takes some of those things, due to his pure and faithful heart ( i.e. noobness ) he never learned any criminal skill nor did he activate them.

Question: Does he leave scents?

This Question never occured to me before, because every house inside a village ive seen so far was located inside a personal claim too.

He can't take the things without Theft.

He couldn't even walk on the land if he didn't activate Criminal Activities.

I´ll better keep that a secret from my char, he will miss those bearhides and tooths.

Thats what i thought too, but i was right in the middle of their village ( "entered idunnowhatitwascalled" ), entered the houses, took the stuff.

Village claim works just like personal claim for everything else, though. So, I'd wager the house wasn't actually on the village grounds (entering/leaving messages can be a bit wonky at times).

simple as

1- you cant do it unless you activate criminal acts
2-ANYTHING ADN EVERYTHING that you need to activate criminal acts for will leave scents

In case authority of the village runs low you won't leave scents, in case it dosn't you won't be able to grab stuff without criminal acts on.

In case this info is wrong: either there is a bug in the code or a bug in the info.

Chances are the village authority has gone down to nil and there is only the ghost of a village with no theft and crime protection. The ghost of the authority radius will remain until the idol is gone but it will do nothing. Idols take awhile to vanish as they need a few decay hits.

Suggestion? Put on that bear cape and that bear tooth necklace and stroll up and hit destroy on the idol. If it doesn't object by announcing "That belongs to village x..." and merely crumbles to nothing in a few hits you will know that there is no village authority left. You can only destroy the idol once the authority is gone.

And congratulations to your little noob for finding a nice motherlode. Noobs can have a lot of fun salvaging stuff. It's amazing what you can get, even while being careful to be a considerate and law abiding H & H citizen.

Yeah, i guess there were "holes" within the villages authority, mayb ill try it again, by now i lost all the stuff due to the massive rollback anyways 8[
