Buggered up taming

Ok, i stuffed it up somehow. I have had this cow following me for 40 minutes and has yet to become hostile the second time. So i will stick it in its pen now and try again. My main question is, if i get fed up and leave it will it despawn from its pen? So I have to fully tame it in one sitting? Or can i leave it there and come back and finish it of tomorrow?

And you shouldn't enter buildings or engage other creatures. Personally, I always grab some lecture scripts to study while i "play" the game during taming.

I finally got it. Took me a few hours but i figured it out.

Yeah, I've had similar problems.

Buggers won't attack me if I let 'em out of the pen. I've got 2 of them at 80 right now and it's been about 10 minutes, hoping they attack soon.
