How rare is rustroot?

I've been looking for about a day now, with the exploration*perception required to find rustroot (assuming the wiki is accurate), and I still haven't found any. I know it's the least common of the herbs, but is this normal? Roughly how long will I be looking based on previous experience?

You are probably just at the borderline point where you can see rustroot if, and only if you make a difficult die roll. That would be like rolling a 20 on a d20 every time you had a chance to see one. 19 times out of 20 you are probably still not seeing them.

If your perception*exploration is really high you will probably see rustroot in coniferous or deciduous forest once for every ten to fifteen minutes walk or maybe even more often. They don't grow in grasslands or marshes.

You might try hunting for rustroot from a boat or if there are any decent roads in your area while running along the road. Because you can go faster you cover more ground you'll have more chances of running across them.

Yeah, I'm in a forest, thanks. I am very close to the limit of where you can find rustroot, so that's probably it.

Out of curiosity, do I have to relog to get the new updated chances when I up my exploration, or does it do it automatically?

I don't think you have to relog. When I started the game I saw everything up to chantrelles in the first playthrough. So new things appeared without relogging but I haven't specifically tested it to be 100% sure.

And rustroot will become very common later on. What actually is your percep*explore? I have roughly 1300 so thats mroe than enough to find herbs whenever i need it.

I believe it's around 13*33 or so, haven't been able to come across much perception food. Friend is about to get baking though, so maybe we'll be able to make some use out of all those blueberries soon.

ok, so you have 429. Thats not too bad. Carrots are your friend here. If you can mass produce carrots and snack on them for a while you will slowly get your perception up. If you friend has butter and wheat access too then feel free to make carrot cake. Its 7 times more feps and its pure perception. I lived off that stuff for a while. If you have no carrots/wheat then start getting as many WWW's as you can. You'll find it eventually.

If you have both carrots and peas, but no butter, spring stew is the way to go.

We do indeed have peas and carrots, but we also have grapes, so I'm not too worried about charisma.

And another question, do pre existing caves have ore in them? Or can they not be mined?

Err, I mean stew for per (it's per and cha).

And you can't mine caves directly, but you can find mines in them, just like on the surface.
