Unarmed skill for Melee users

Postby L0ckAndL0ad » Thu May 06, 2010 10:26 am

Hello. I still don't get it. I'm going to be a melee battle character. Do I need to learn Unarmed Combat skill as high as I learn Melee skill? I mean, I use Shield (1.25*melee skill) for defence, melee based attacks..I got that. But.. What about moves like "Dash!" and the others? I still need to use them in melee combat, right? Dash, Flex, Battle Cry, Opportunity Knocks.. But, initially they ment to be used for unarmed. So, do I need to train more Unarmed skill (60UC and 60Melee for example) to use skills like Dash! more efficient? And.. Same question about using skill like Quell the Beast.. Do I need to have high Unarmed skill to use these? Can somebody tell me, please? Thank you.

Unarmed is useful for maneuvres. The one that might be worth it is Death or Glory, just after your opponent has spent his offence, as it'll get you a nice number of initiative points if your unarmed is a fair deal higher than your opponents, which can then be converted into combat advantage. On the other hand, the guy that focuses on melee alone is going to have higher skill, which means he'll cut right through your defence and gain advantage by hurting you.

So yeah, I personally don't think it's worth it to invest in UA on a melee character. Unless you're planning to use a battleaxe, in which case you have to get unarmed (can't use shield with battleaxe).
