Prospecting ? Help?

Hey guys so i got this question , where do i prospect? in a cave or outside? all it says is "no minerals found" ;S

Both is fine, its just pretty unlikely to find any minerals these days, they are pretty rare and most of them are claimed by now.

and how do i find one mine? just search for minerals? and it will be built automatically? how can i know if im close to a mine? ;S

You will know when it shows you a certain percentage which indicates how far away you are, it will then put the construction sign to the ground automatically when you get to thwe 100% spot. Just keep trying, there should be some mines left out there, but be aware that it might take you days and a lot of travel to find one. Caves in the wilderness, far away from rivers and in the outer grids are probably your best shot atm

are there certain terrains that hold a better chance of containing minerals? Or is it just coincidence that I've seen mines mostly on mudflats and mountains?

so the best area to look for a mine now, is most likely the south west correct? everyone seems to have spawned in a band from NW to SE... at least the players who have decided to put screenies into the map of the world
