Question about growing trees

Postby Seriyu » Sat May 08, 2010 5:46 pm

Can I take branches, for instance, from a growing tree, without negatively affecting quality? Or do I have to wait for it to grow all the way?

Going anywhere near a growing tree is a bad idea, because there's a chance it will permanently stunt its growth.

That said, I don't think taking items from it beforehand will harm it, in and of itself. The resources' quality are based on the growth progress, but it might be worth the risk to grab some.

I see, and on another note, if a tree doesn't grow for a while I assume that means it's stunted?

Is there a definite way to get rid of stunted trees?

If it seems to be taking way longer than usual to hit the next growth stage, it's probably stunted. I think all stages take the same amount of time, so yeah.

If they aren't just tiny seedlings, you can chop them down. If they are, I think you're stuck with them...there was a recent thread about them, but that seemed to be the conclusion.

Will wandering chickens and other animals stunt growth if it tries to evolve when they are near?

Huh, I see, thanks.

We actually did plant a lot of these on a grassland "lawn" around our camp, so it may just be that. Thanks all.

The very last growth of trees is random, just because it takes a while for it to completely grow doesn't mean it's stunted.

if the base of the tree, the roots, seem to have grown bigger than the leafy part should warrant, its likely stunted. Most common causes are fences, houses, palisades and other trees
