good way to gain lp?

Postby ejonkou » Sat May 15, 2010 3:04 pm

Hi, sorry for another thread. I am a n00b :P But I am wondering whats the best way for a beginner to get 4K LP so I can start and claim my land?
Since I chop down trees while I look at the forums(50lp a tree) just wondering if theres a faster way then 80 trees XD

Well if you upgrade your personal beliefs by putting change up to max. you can get over 160lp per tree.

But I wouldnt really do that. Because cutting down trees is annoying for people who wants to put there village down. Also, it ruins parts of the land.
So If you do cut trees, also cut the log as well.

Put all your personal belief in peaceful. Extra LP bonus and change goes along one step every time you adjust a slider.
For starters, soil digging isnt too bad. Buy pottery with your first 200 LP (Make stone axes or something in the beginning).

Build your lean-to, bed, make stone axes, wicker baskets and fires.
Do not cut down trees if at all possible, they do not re-spawn.
Good gaming to you!

Nothing wrong with cutting down trees if there is a reason for it. Clear yourself a spot, fence it, build a log cabin or a leanto. That's fine. When you begin deforesting large swaths of land for the sake of doing so, that's when people begin to have problems with you. If it's bigger than the space you plan to take up at the current time and you don't need the materials, don't cut it.

Your best bet is actually traveling a bit and leaving at least a good deal of trees around you instead of deforesting your immediate area, you'll appreciate the branches and boughs respawning, you'll appreciate it a LOT.

Farming and hunting are good LP, there are a few other ways to get them but they aren't productive. (Making a ton of teapots, building branches into looms)

What I do is make loads of boards and some logs, change the block of wood into branches, make branches into baskets for containers :D Unless you want to make a Crate :D

Then I would get boat building and make boats. IT gives laods of LP in total
Why make a new character when you wish to join a friend? Just walk on and never give up! When you do, you'll have realised you arrived.

Raise your survival and exploration and do a lot of foraging.

Use all materials you produce. For example if you cut a fir tree gather the branches and the boughs first. You can store them temporarily in unbuilt lean-tos and fires. A lean to every few yards along the dangerous road to the water is not a bad thing. That way when a bear charges at you can use the lean-to with a spruce bed to escape and log out. Or you can use the boughs later to build a timber house.

If you waste these materials, later on when you want them you have to walk farther for them and the job of building a timber house becomes a tedious trek up and down fetching logs and boughs. That time you spend trekking is time you are not gaining lp. Many a pallisade has been delayed by the unpleasant discovery that there are not enough blocks in a decent distance.

Use a mixed strategy for gaining lp. If you just cut eighty trees you will be bored! But if you cut just enough nearby trees to build a cabin, outfit it with furniture such as storage cupboards, build a plough and pave a square, plough and fence your future farm plot, dig clay and build a kiln, and spend all your snack and bathroom breaks fishing you will gain lots of lp, not devastate the area and have a lot more fun doing it.

I like to work hard until my stamina is spent and then stroll off foraging. Around the time my stamina is fully restored my inventory is also full of my next hour's groceries and I hearth home to eat it and resume the heavy labour.

Raise carpentry to 30~
Get a bonesaw with a quality between 50-120
Cut down a tree
Turn boards into buckets
Each bucket is like 180LP for me and only requires 1 board
