How do I kill this deer?

I've trapped it, but whenever I attack with my sling I never seem to deal any damage.

wait for it to charge,up it to 5 to actually hit.

Deers will heal themselves, you need a friend with you, and have to hit it at the same time, and hope you kill it, otherwise it heals and runs
