How do I figure out where I am?

Postby ejonkou » Mon May 17, 2010 4:30 pm

How do I figure out where I am? I'd like to get closer to Constantinople(Trading Capital, what I have heard) and settle quite close(not to close) so I can trade and stuff(I am new) So how do I figure what way to go?

Drinking water. Also, sitting in a chair is the best form of resting. Better than just standing around waiting.

To drink water though you need either a kuksa cup or a waterskin or flask.

You get birchbark from birches. These are white paperbark looking trees. You are probably in a fir forest. i started in that at first. You'll have to travel looking for birch trees. They will be on grasslands and in the lighter forest.

Ask someone who is at Constantinople to party you for just a few moments. You will have to kin using hearth secrets, so since he is doing you a favour, give him your hearth secret. Once you are kin you can clear your hearth secret. When you are in party click on the coloured box in the upper left and this will start you marching in the correct direction. It won't tell you how far away you are. This means that unfortunately if your sense of direction and luck are not good you may have to ask them to do it again after awhile to make sure you are still going in the right direction.

This will only take about two minutes of his time and since he doesn't give you his hearth secret and unkins you immediately afterwards it is of no risk to him. I suggest you contact someone who is an official at Constantinople to do this. It is of minor risk to you, since during the period that your hearth secret is known someone who knows it can create an noobie alt to spawn at your hearth fire, but since you are planning on abandoning your old hearth fire to make the trek to find a new place to settle it is probably not a real risk.

You might also want to investigate resources along the way, so that you can arrive with an inventory loaded with high q clay or water or something, or collect chantrelles so that you have something to trade when you get there. However you'd also need to advertise what you had and find a buyer, which is hard to do with the low quality and low volume goods a noobie generally has to trade.

They have yellow leaves. You'll probably find apple trees and such in the same area.

Your English is fine.
