armor stats numbers

when i look at armor(leather pants) i see numbers and such. now i get the hitpoints but what does the other numbers mean

As I understand it, The "X/Y" part of armor works like this:

X = the amount of damage per hit that vanishes entirely
Y = the amount of damage per hit that is dealt to the armor instead of you
