Imagine the q of waterspots like a big area with a peak. This peak might or might not be in a river or lake. When you find a river with good water and follow it you will notice how the q rises to a sweet spot and then drops again. The actual peak now might lie outside the river on land. So if you go ahead and build a well in the forest you might hit a high q spot, but you might aswell hit (and this is far more likely) a q10 spot. Neither the soil quality, nor the quality of the materials you build a well with have any influence on the water quality from the well.
