starting off, got the basics... i think

Postby sandworm55 » Fri May 21, 2010 9:49 pm

so i've been playing for about a day now, and i think i've got the basics, but it's alot of work just to meet the basics, let alone advance with out things like farming, and i can't seem to find anything info answering the basics, mainly;

-Where do i get my first seeds, whats a good exploration to start to be able to see them, what foods ( other then carrots ) increase my perception.

- i understand you need like 20+ perception and exploation to be able to find rust root so you can make a mine hole, but where do i use it, do i use the rust root in the forest and see it, or do i hace to be in a cave ( which i have found one of )

- Archery, i've been using a Q3 and Q4 sling and just got a bow, but the servers seem to be down so i can't test that, but when i try and use a ranged attack, the accuacy metter doesn't move, just sits there empty, whats a good marksman lvl to have it at, mines only at 3, but even rabbits that are just sitting there evade me, also, do i have to have line of sight, or can i shot from the other side of a fance

- Fishing, i know i need to find the jumping fish, but are then only in the morning? thats the only time ive seen em

- this may sound stupid, but does the land change, cuase i swear things that wear there arn't anymore ( like ppls citys, and islands ) and things i have no recolection of beign there are suddenly there ( like swamps ) ~related~ is cartography worth it

if this is one of those lololol noob you don't get to do those things till after you have 150 in marksman, so be it, but it seems like i'm close to alot of these, but just missing some info,

Thanks for the help, and i'm loving this game so far.

this should help with the seeds. you need exploration to find WWWs, then dry them on a drying rack (herbalist table is better but if you don't have crops yet you probably don't have plant fibers to make it unless you steal them).

edit: it looks like aphids are good for perception and are pretty easy to find as there are ant hills everywhere.

here's the FEP table

i'm brand new BTW, like you, and that Wikia has been very helpful

10 marksmanship is enough to start hitting things with a sling, and 20 makes it much easier. Don't bother with bows, they are rubbish.
Once a man has changed the relationship between himself and his environment, he cannot return to the blissful ignorance he left. Motion, of necessity, involves a change in perspective.

10 in survival will let you find better string and make a better sling. You could then raise your marksmanship to 20 and you'll find the aiming bar goes up much faster. 15 in exploration will let you find wild windsown weeds to dry even if your perception is 10. You can walk up next to a rabbit and right click on him to catch him. Then you can wring his neck and butcher him. No need to shoot rabbits or chickens. Don't right click from far away or he will see you coming though :)

Let me add this:

You need the skill Hunting to be able to catch rabbits. Walk up to a rabbit until you are on top of him. Then rightclick him. You will catch him. You then strangle his neck, squeezing his unimportant life slowly out of his throat. Once he stops moving. You have succeeded.

Love,
