...determine my current location?

So, I just started playing on the current map/world a couple days ago.
I've got nearby water, reasonable soil, fish, a decent clay spot. Even some flax I just recently found on my very first WWW. So I've got a reasonably decent camp to work with. Allowing for the angry bear.
But other than some random person I bumped into and a somewhat imposing village to the west, I have seen no one*, and I have no clue where I am in the world.

I've taken a look at havenmap.tk, since I saw that on the forum. I don't recognize any of it, which is probably a sign that I'm floating around in uncharted space. Or using an out-dated map.

*: someone has seen me, though. My roast fish keeps vanishing.

Walk around, find a village, ask villagers for location.

ya, i'm in a similer situation, i've looked on some maps, and can't find me, and my buddy suggested we go to a town and trade, which sounds like a good idea, but shortly after diciding that, we relized.... how do i we find a town, i mean if we have a horse to ride or somthing and cartog we set up ( we still need ink to start cartoging) going for a trip might be neat, but since pulling a cart is slow, and navigating rivers with out a map means getting lost is a high chance, ... kinda sitting here woundering.. what now, so any we to find a town, or better yet, if there are main roads we could come across, that we be great, also, can't find any other towns

The only roads out there are the ones ppl have built themselves. your best bet is to find someone who knows their location and party with them. Try searching in the forums. I know a few ppl who are looking for newbs to join their village. Maybe you can ask them to help you learn the basics. Having said that, it takes many hours to walk across the entire map. Be ready to put in some hard yards if you want to keep your character.
