Decay rates. (basic items)

Postby mvgulik » Fri May 28, 2010 3:35 pm

Just wondering about general decay rates for basic beginner items.

I just left my site for about 1.5 day, and its more or less empty now.

(Or I just got ransacked for everything except my fence. o dear.)

1 1/2 days shouldn't be enough to decay everything. Was it inside a house, what was gone when you came back? Containers? Roundpole fences?

Cupboards are made of paper, never leave them outdoors.

From branch containers to drying racks. Checked some seemingly abounded neighbor sites (small one's) and everything is still there.
So I was Pillaged. Don't think you can take drying racks with you. ;-)

How long will for example a Wicker basket or Birchbark take to decay.
I think Birchbark start to lose there color when decaying. Not seen something similar on Wicker baskets yet.

Not sure on the exact times but I've had coffers/wicker baskets left outside last over a week easily. Birchbark baskets too, I think it took 3 weeks for one of mine to decay.

Drying rack can most certainly disappear overnight, but wicker and birch bark baskets shouldn't. I think it's safe to say you got pillaged.

I've seen tons of wicker baskets in areas with palisade decayed all over - they will outlast your walls....

Meanwhile, straw baskets and birchbark baskets I hardly ever find in my exploration - they decay more quickly and mine seem to always need repair.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but at times I feel like objects that are on paved tiles are more prone to getting the "random" decay hits, has anyone else noticed this? outside of always having to repair your palisade of course. walk away for fifteen minutes come back and that pink is now red... odd.
