Cant Seem To Even Hit Ants

Im using a ql5 axe, as a weapon, but my stats when I attacked the ants were:
9Unarmed Combat
8Melee Combat

But everytime I attacked, with punch and chop, I always missed. I cant seem to hit ANYTHING at all.
But now my stats are:
9Unarmed Combat
11Melee Combat
Would these stats gurantee a hit very often?

Use unarmed agianst ants, it doesn't really matter and it is a waste using melee attacks.

Are you sure you're attack meter is full everytime and their defense meter is drained?

I advise punching the ants instead so you don't have to deal with gaining IP. Punch the ants, use jump to refill attack meter and punch again. Keep doing that until the ants are dead.

Strength only affects damage, it doesn't do shit for chance to hit. Up your stats, either UA or Melee... with your current stats you will have a tough time to hit the broad side of a barn mate.

you may buff yourself a little bit with umarmed by wearing nettle-clothing (i thing punching is better and hits more often)

my idea was, that he may ideed hits the ants (and decrease their defence bar a little bit)
but that the ants are able to regenerate the bar faster than he is able to attack

srsly, that guy is obviously new to this game ( q5 axe= skill:1, material: q10 ), and he asks why he cant beat ANTS, and you recommend he should wear some stuff you get from a BEAR?

Just because an answer ain´t wrong, doesn`t make her good.

On Topic: It really takes some time at haven & Hearth before you`re really ready to fight anything that fights back, Early hunting: catch rabbits and/or chickens, anything else doesn`t make much sense.

€: once again, im not even sure if he can find nettles yet, let alone having the ability for sewing :p

catch rabbits, make leather, get a suit of leather armor and pants, it will help

Actually, yes I have a ql50 Bear Tooth Talisman, and a 195hp Bear Cape, and I can find more than nettles, all the way up to WWW, and yes, I do have the ability for sewing and many of the combat abilities.
