palisades and cliffs

Postby SoulEntropy » Thu Jun 03, 2010 1:02 pm

started putting some palisades up around my humble abode yesterday, but iv'e found i'm having trouble building close enough to the edges to prevent people just edging their way round.
initial plan was just to plug the hidden gap with a lift-able object, but that wont work for where i want to place the next wall. Are there any more permanent ways around this?

Use fences to try it: Start your Palisade besides the cliff, not at the end, i dont know on which side or where exactly, but it should be closed this way.

The palisade at the first picture should be close if you extend it one cornerpost to the south and then all the way to the east, but as i said, try with fences first, then you`ll know for sure.

And yes, it sucks.

You can place construction signs freely by keeping [SHIFT] pressed. Maybe you can plug the gap that way?

Edit: Do not forget to actually finish the construction, too, as Jacob_Lee noticed below me.

Then someone could just interact with the sign and make it disappear.
On the topic of a griefer:

Hi SE,

Looks like you still need to pave the two tiles in front of the gate. Then you can place it.

this. (2paved tiles each in front+behind the planned door)

and you are able to finish your wall completly - but it would take some work!
the cliff from north to south you see on the first pic is safe if you build it on the lower side.
so you would have to make a little circle from your eastern cornerpost
(a little north, cornerpost; then as far east as you reach the level of your first (western) fence-tile, there a cornerpost; south and finally the last cornerpost where the western part of your fence is now)
you are able to build my suggested wallform in one step (no need to place another single cornerpost, just use the fence-option "create cornerpost".
those cornerposts are still expensive, but at least not as much as a single one (i think it was 50 insted of 100 woodblocks).
if you dont understand what i mean, just ask again!
