New player problems

Postby SeventhSandwich » Sun Jun 06, 2010 8:59 am

I just downloaded this game and registered. This has been a huge ordeal for several reasons.

1. After installing the game, I had to restart my computer. Which then when I tried to open the autohaven file, it didn't run and just opened up in text. Now for some reason I am unable to play without redownloading the file every time I close the game.

2. After creating my new character, I read the howto for some advice. I went to the plastic surgeon, selected my name. Then I read that I could leave through the ladder. So I did.

Then I read the howto again and it mentioned the chest, which was now unaccessable.

3. So I restarted the game and tried to create a new character, which worked. But then when I selected my name, it said I had another character with the same name.

4. So I restarted the game a third time, to find that there is no "Delete character" button. And now I have a completely naked character stuck with my username.

So here's what I'm asking.

How do I

1. Delete a character

2. Run the autohaven file without redownloading it on a macintosh based computer

3. if I can't delete, how do I rename?

Please help :(

1. Kill said character.

2. Dunno.

3. You don't.

I can't help you with your Mac problem.

As for deleting characters, you can't. That character name is now unusable on your account. You COULD make a new account if you insist on using the same name, or you could learn to play the game with a naked character (You'd be starting from scratch more than most everybody does). If you REALLY want the loot, log into your main and set a "hearth secret" on your kin list, then create a new character, grab your stuff, talk to the guy in the top corner, give him said hearth secret, and go down the stairs. You'll show up at your main character's hearthfire. You can drop all the stuff from the chest, then change characters and pick it up. (If it takes more than 5-10 minutes, the stuff might despawn. If you want the Beautiful Dream, you'll need to make a wicker basket or find a container of some sort to put it in, as it disappears when dropped).

Save the autohaven.jnlp to your computer, then you can simply double-click it.

You can only have one character with a certain name, you can not rename characters.

Your characters name dosn't have to be the username.

Only way to delete your character is to kill it (eg. by repeatedly running it into a bear, or get enough LP to buy swimming and take a deadly bath).

This is very frustrating.

I had to create a new character, due to not being able to delete the other one. Now I accidentally dropped my pants into the water in the middle part and I cannot get them back. So I'll have to make ANOTHER new character.

I don't know if this game is supposed to be this frustrating, but honestly the developers should probably account for these kinds of problems.

Also, Granger, when I open up the jnlp, it doesn't start the stuff. I have to redownload it every time.

Well, I'm happy to know that things are starting to go right.

I made a new character with all clothes on, and now he's out in the wild.

Okay, so now where do I go?

This actually looks like it will be fun if I manage not to irreversibly mess something up again.

Although it has information related to the game, a LOT of of it is extremely outdated..

In otherwords. if it says something it might not be accurate.

I'm starting to get this game more.

I'm making fires and I just got a stone axe.

This is actually pretty fun. But this is NOT beginner friendly =/
