I was thinking of making an ALT character at my camp to just do my industry needs. (since my main is full nature)

what all processes are involved with the industry? is it JUST the mining? or is full industry needed to better smelt?

The wiki says that the smelting odds are determined by the miner of the ore's industry.
but even so, looks like it may not necessarily be true.

Industry determines:
  • The odds of you getting bars of metal instead of stone from the smelter the moment you mine an ore.
  • The odds of getting wrought from cast iron.
  • The efficiency of you gathering gray clay from shallows outside and cave clay from shallows in caves.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.
